How can having an ATM at my business location make money for me?

  • Onsite ATMs allow customers easy access to cash, so they don’t leave your business for another ATM-equipped location.
  • ATMs not only put available cash into your customers’ hands, but they reduce or eliminate the need to accept checks, and will also help save you money on your credit card processing fees—so even if your company accepts credit cards, it’s still worthwhile to place an ATM.
  • By keeping your customers in-house, you increase their satisfaction and loyalty—and the probability that they’ll spend withdrawn cash at your location.
  • An ATM generates traffic, potentially attracting new customers.
  • And best of all: You receive surcharge revenue for every transaction.

What are the differences between purchasing an ATM and having a free ATM placed in my location?

If you purchase an ATM, you are responsible for loading money; as that money is dispensed, it deposits directly back to your bank account. If you purchase the ATM from Merchant Enterprises, we’ll process the transactions and give you online access to view things like the balance, number of transactions—for no charge.  At the end of the month we cut a check for the full surcharge amount (for example, 200 transactions @ $2.00), and send you a check for $400. If you own the ATM you will make 100% of the surcharge revenue generated by your ATM.

If Merchant Enterprises owns the ATM in your business, you’ll receive a portion of the surcharge revenue. All commission checks are sent on the 20th of the following month. For example, January’s commissions will be mailed out February 20th.  Merchant Enterprises handles the installation, cash replenishment, and ATM maintenance from start to finish. The only things you need to provide are a place to put the ATM, an outlet to plug it into, and a DSL connection or dedicated phone line for the ATM to communicate.

What are the requirements to qualify for free ATM placement?

Traffic volume and location will determine eligibility. We have ATMs placed in bars, restaurants, convenience stores, gas stations, office buildings, factories, casinos/bingo halls, malls, hotels, college/universities, salons, any cash-only business, and places with a lot of foot traffic.

If I get a free ATM placed in my business, what are my responsibilities?

Merchant Enterprises handles the installation, cash replenishment, and ATM maintenance from start to finish. The only things you need to provide are a place to put the ATM, an outlet to plug it into, and a DSL connection or dedicated phone line for the ATM to communicate.

With a free ATM, who is responsible for machine repairs and regular maintenance?

With a free ATM placement, Merchant Enterprises is 100% responsible for all repairs and maintenance.

With I own my ATM, who is responsible for machine repairs and regular maintenance?

We have factory-trained service technicians in-house. If we cannot get it fixed over the phone, we’ll send a service technician to your location. The ATMs come with a one-year warranty included in the price. Extended warranties and service programs are also available. For more info, please contact us.

Are there any monthly charges or hidden monthly fees?

No hidden fees, no monthly fees, no per transaction charges for transaction processing. The only long-term fees you will have will be for the dedicated phone line or DSL and electricity.

If you own the ATM, you are responsible for keeping it stocked with cash and receipt paper. If you are a small ATM company running several ATMs and need assistance keeping your ATMs stocked, check out our vault cash program [[LINK TO VAULT CASH PROGRAM]].

When and how much can I be paid if I own my ATM?

Once the new ATM has been in service for one month, you’ll receive a detailed monthly report that lists the total number of transactions, total cash dispensed, and total surcharge revenue earned for the month. If you own the ATM you will make 100% of the surcharge revenue generated by your ATM. If Merchant Enterprises owns the ATM in your business, you’ll receive a portion of the surcharge revenue. We’ll mail out monthly residual checks, along with your detailed statement summary, on the 20th of each month for the prior month’s transaction volume.

If I own and load my own ATM, when do I get the money dispensed from my ATM back into my bank account?

The vault cash is deposited to the account that you request via the Federal Reserve within 24 hours. Keep in mind that in the ATM world, a 24-hour day goes from 2:00 pm until 2:00pm. For example—funds from 2:00 pm Tuesday until 2:00pm Wednesday, will be in your bank account Thursday morning.

Can I co-brand my ATM with my company name?

If the ATM machine is owned entirely by you, then yes you can. Learn more about our co-branding services here [LINK TO BRANDING SECTION].

If Merchant Enterprises installs my ATM, how will it be secured on-site?

Free-standing automated teller machines are lag-bolted to the floor. All through-the-wall style ATM installations are custom, but are also lag-bolted to the floor.

What if my customers have a discrepancy with the ATM?

This is extremely rare, but if this does happen, the card user should call our toll-free phone number (TKNUMBER) which is on the ATM surcharge sticker. NEVER give the card user money.

How do I know how many transactions my machine is doing?

You’ll be able to view dozens of different reports such as detailed transaction history, low cash alerts (if you own your ATM), monthly transaction totals, etc. Our reporting tools are so advanced, you can even access your ATM reports via your cell phone and best of all the reporting tools are free to all of Merchant Enterprises customers. If you do not own the ATM machine, and select free placement with Merchant Enterprises, we fill the machine. However, you as the business owner, may elect to fill the machines yourself for a greater percentage of the surcharge income.

Should I have a separate bank account for the ATM vault cash?

Yes, we recommend you set up a separate bank account in order to keep track of the ATM cash, which is deposited into your account daily.

What are the power requirements for the ATM?

The ATM runs off of regular 1/10 power. All you need to do is plug in!

How do I reboot my ATM, and is it okay to turn off?

To reboot your ATM, all you have to do is unplug machine. It’s okay to turn off machine. Many times this will fix any operating issues with the ATM. If there is an error code on the machine, please refer to the operating manual in the appendix. If the issue still persists, call us.

If I’m loading my own cash, how can I prevent bill jams?

Be sure to inspect the cash before inserting into each cassette. Many jams occur because of tears or folds in bills, tape on bills, or staples. Also, brand-new bills tend to stick together, so make sure to pull bills apart before loading.
